Combat Prowess

Master Combatant:  Lex Luthor was the son of abusive parents.  In order to escape their clutches and achieve the life that he knew he was destined to have, Lex orchestrated theirs deaths.  With the life insurance money he collected, Alexander started his own company.  Lex Corp would be at the forefront of technological developments over the next couple of years.  During this time, Mr. Luthor would gather tons of information on the various underground criminal organizations so he could control them.  The arrival of Superman changed everything.  This powerful alien began ruining all of Lex’s hard work.  This, combined with the fact that this alien was born with his gifts, set Lex on a different course in life.  He became obsessed with defeating Kal-El of Krypton (and his allies) and showing the world that mankind didn’t have to rely on gifts from the cosmos in order to be safe.  Because of this choice, Lex has been battling the Justice League for decades.  His technology has become more combat-oriented and his desires for victory more urgent.  Encounters with various heroes have garnered him plenty of experience and he is one of the premier threats to the Man of Tomorrow.

Super Genius-Level Intellect:  Lex’s mental prowess ranks among the top 5 in all of DC Comics.  He has Ph. D’s in multiple fields.  He is one of the most successful businessmen on the planet.  He has an impressive acumen for political science.  He is multilingual.  Obviously, he has developed a mechanical warsuit and other advanced tech.

Master Tactician:  Coupled with his impressive scientific knowledge, Mr. Luthor also has a knack for planning and executing complicated battle strategy.  He has lead the Injustice League and other powerful organizations into combat on numerous occasions.  Unless sabotaged, Lex’s schemes usually perform flawlessly.

Notable Accomplishments

  • Fought Superman on numerous occasions and held his own.
  • Defeated the entire Justice League in an alternate timeline.
  • Succeeded in becoming the only other person to acquire an Orange Lantern ring.

Closing Statement

Similarities:

  • Both are successful billionaires.
  • Both have acquired positions of power within the government.
  • Both have suits of armor.

Differences:

  • Lex Luthor basically only uses one power suit to fight and it is designed to contend with Superman.  This enables him to fight other creatures at or near that character’s level.
  • Tony Start has developed numerous armors with a multitude of functions AND utilized the same strategy for dealing with single characters as his opponent.

Where it really matters:

  • Lex Luthor’s Warsuit has much higher base stats than the majority of Tony’s Iron Man Armors.
  • Tony’s more advanced and specialized armors grossly outmatch Lex’s warsuit.
  • Even with his other base armors, Mr. Stark has a high probability of hacking his foe’s tech and taking it over.

The Verdict

xlarge

This battle is actually pretty straight-forward.  Lex’s warsuit has a nice stat advantage over Tony’s weaker armors.  The only shot Tony has is to survive long-enough to hack his opponent’s tech.  Most of the time, Tony should be able to hold out long enough to do so with his wide array of defensive options.  Eventually, Mr. Stark’s more powerful Iron Man armors will outclass his foe’s machinery.  Iron Man takes this most of the time.
